Important information about vehicle batteries
- Kilometre/Battery Range
The kilometre range figures are based on results from Porsche AG under controlled test conditions conducted in accordance with the applicable Australian Design Rule for vehicle comparison purposes only. Actual ranges you experience will vary depending on a number of factors such as speed, traffic and weather conditions, driving habits, elevation change, how much weight the vehicle is carrying, use of features/accessories such as heating or air-conditioning, and wheels/tyres among others.
- Battery
A lithium-ion battery is subject to a physical and chemical aging and wear process. This reduces battery capacity depending on usage behaviour, charging habits and environmental conditions, leading to a reduction in the battery’s life, decreased range and increased charging time. Due to the influence of temperature on battery operation and charging performance as well as battery life, the following should be considered when parking, driving, and charging:
- whenever possible, avoid constant ambient temperatures above 30 °C. In case of unavoidable ambient temperatures above 30 °C, connect the vehicle to the power grid after operation and charge the high-voltage battery with alternating current (AC) to a maximum charge level of 85%;
- for longer periods of inactivity of more than 2 weeks, the vehicle should be kept in an ambient temperature between 0 °C and 20 °C, and the battery charge level should be maintained between 20% and 50%;
- for the shortest possible charging times, a battery temperature between 30 °C and 35 °C is optimal. With the Taycan model year 2025, a battery temperature between 15 °C and 35 °C is optimal.
- Charging times
Charging times are based on rates observed during Porsche AG testing on a test vehicle in controlled test conditions using a high speed DC charger for vehicle comparison purposes only using a high speed DC charger. The rates of charge you experience will differ depending on a number of factors such as the ambient conditions, battery size, the amount of charge the battery has and the type of charger. Public DC chargers are typically faster than AC chargers installed at residential premises.
We recommend charging to 80 per cent to assist in maximising your vehicle’s battery range and battery life over time.
