Porsche Brunei, represented by QAF Prestige, the exclusive importer of Porsche vehicles in Brunei Darussalam, brought together a group of Boxster and Cayman models, for a spirited community drive to celebrate the Raceborn spirit of Porsche.
Starting from Porsche Centre Brunei in Beribi, about fifteen passionate owners of Porsche’s mid-engined sports car family gathered for a charming morning drive towards the coastal area of Serasa. The convoy concluded with a breakfast at a cozy restaurant by the sea. Participants also engaged in lighthearted community activities, including a Porsche trivia session.
The Porsche 718 range, which includes the Cayman, Boxster, Cayman S, Boxster S, Cayman GTS 4.0, Boxster GTS 4.0, Cayman GT4 RS, and Spyder RS, represents the perfect balance between racing heritage and modern-day performance. Each model delivers puristic mid-engine handling characteristics, unfiltered driving emotion, and unmistakable design.
The 718 name pays tribute to one of the most iconic race cars in Porsche’s history: 718 RSK and 718 RS 60 Spyder of the late 1950s and early 1960s. These were agile race cars that achieved remarkable victories in races such as the Targa Florio and Le Mans by utilising a lightweight philosophy to outperform cars much more powerful, establishing a legacy that continues to define the brand’s mid-engine family of sports cars today.
The road to the modern 718 was paved by the generations that came before it. In 1996, Porsche reintroduced a mid-engine layout and open-top sports car with the Boxster, bringing a new level of accessibility to the Porsche sports car experience. It was followed by the 987, which refined the platform further with increased performance and updated styling. Then came the 981, a generation celebrated for its sharp dynamics, naturally aspirated flat-six engines, and a design language that bridged classic Porsche cues with modern sophistication. Each of these generations played a key role in evolving the mid-engine sports car concept, ultimately setting the stage for the 718.
The current 718 models continue this racing lineage by translating that same spirit of agility and precision into contemporary design and performance. With a mid-engine layout and balanced chassis, today’s 718 models offer an unmistakable driving connection, blending everyday usability with racetrack capability for a driving experience beyond the ordinary.
The Boxster & Cayman Breakfast Drive focused on celebrating this mid-engine passion and affirming the vibrant and passionate Porsche community in Brunei.
“This drive was a powerful reminder that Porsche is more than just a brand – it is a community united by a shared passion for the joy of driving,” said Mr. Daniel Loo, Deputy General Manager of Porsche Brunei. “The 718, along with previous generations of the Boxster and Cayman, has always embodied pure driving emotion. Today, our owners experienced that spirit in its most authentic form: together, as one Porsche family.”
