Cassie Hawrysh is a women's skeleton athlete, A 2014 Canadian champion and 2014 Winter Olympic Alternate. She has always thought of herself as an athlete for life. She has said “When we’re young, it is easy to dream, there is nothing that gets in the way. No outside perspectives or opinions and a lot of people tend to forget how to dream.
Though with some gentle reminders and great people around you, anybody can recall how to dream!” That mind-set has carried her through her career and allowed her to thrive as a professional skeleton athlete. She has changed many sports before finding her footing in professional skeleton racing, but it seems to have been working out. After she retired from competition, she still wanted to be that spark in other people's lives.
She shifted into broadcasting & marketing while focusing on kick boxing in her down time. Her recent endeavor, competitive mech racing, has become a larger part of her life and is something she hopes will inspire the next generation of athletes and hopefully carry on to become an internationally recognized sport.
Dreamers are people who inspire others and while conceiving projects that can be regarded as impractical yet visionary. For Cassie, there is nothing in her path that she has not been able to say, “yeah. Why not?”. That attitude alone is what defines her as a dreamer.
