Temperatures are slowly dropping and winter is just around the corner, but it's not a winter wonderland in downtown Toronto just yet! With the cold weather creeping its way in, now's a good time to take preventative measures for the part of your car interacting with Mother Nature most - your tires.

Here are some tips from Downtown Porsche on tire maintenance:

Pressure should be periodically checked on cold tires (including spare) a minimum of every 15 days. When carrying extra weight, comply with the manufacturers recommendations.
Arrange a service appointment to have your tires inflated with Nitrogen', which is considerably less susceptible to pressure loss
Never "bleed" or reduce air pressure when tires are hot from driving. Its normal for pressure to increase above recommended cold pressure levels under these circumstances.
Tires should be replaced when worn to the tread indicator 2/32"
Wheel alignment and tire balance should be verified every 15,000 km. The impacts of abnormalities on the road could have an effect on the wheel and tire assembly and cause vibrations or irregular wear.
Always comply with the speed and load index indicated by the manufacturer
Radial tires (even when new) must always be fitted on the rear axle. Winter or studded tires must be fitted in complete sets.
In case of an impact or perforation, have professional technicians verify the integrity of the tire. Tires should be de-mounted and thoroughly inspected
