The Porsche Taycan debuted globally in September 2019, but reached showrooms in February earlier this year. With less than a year in-market, the Taycan has already proven to be hugely popular and a top seller both globally and at home here in Canada. Since its release, Porsche has already produced more than 10,000 Taycans which accounts for approximately 5.7 percent of Porsche sales globally. Although the release of the Taycan was untimely due to the global pandemic, Porsche was still able to achieve an increase in sales and production by 6,464 units, hereby accounting for 8.7 percent of all Porsche sold in 2020. This is more than twice the previous quarter's size and 4x the first quarter of the year.
With the growing popularity of electric vehicles today, consumers are looking for more options to choose from when deciding on their next EV. With Porsche's decorated history in producing high performance machines, it only made sense that the all-new, all-electric Taycan would be a thing of greatness. And wow does it NOT disappoint.
5 Reasons why YOU should visit us and test drive a new Taycan:
1. Electric mobility is in our DNA.
From our E-Hybrid technology to our all-electric Taycan, Porsche has moved quickly along their electrification mission over the last decade, and the Taycan is a true example of that new-age process living up to the legendary Porsche signature.
2. Drive more, charge less.
The Taycan is the only production electric vehicle (EV) currently with an 800-volt charging architecture, double the general standard for EVs which helps the Taycan's larger 79.2 kWh battery capacity translates to a rapid recharging time of only 22 minutes, and increases the Taycan’s range from 5 to 80 per cent. (On Electrify Canada's ultra-fast recharging system).
3. Power is nothing without control.
The positioning of the Taycan's batteries across the floor of the vehicle allows it to have a much lower center of gravity, making both everyday driving and even a session at your local racetrack much easier than you could imagine. Negotiating tight turns and powering into sharp curves happens at an instant and you'll feel more confident as you seat planted in the super comfortable, but hugging sport seats in the Taycan's cockpit. The thirst for more G-Force will become more apparent each time you sit behind the wheel and Porsche's 4D Chassis Control system analyzes and synchronizes the chassis components, while the Taycan's adaptive air suspension, including the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, keeps the vehicle firmly planted.
4. One size does not fit all.
With five driving modes ready at your fingertips, instantly switching up your driving experience will change the way you drive forever. Using the thumbwheel on the steering wheel, you can select from Range, Normal, Sport, Sports Plus and an Individual, programable mode for the more discerning Taycan driver. When in Range mode, the system tones down the climate control system and limits the vehicle's speed to 110 km/h to maximize the Taycan's range. Tune into Sport mode for tighter steering, firmer suspension and a sharper throttle response, all to the sound of a synthetic engine growl which has become synonymous with the Taycan Turbo S (but optional on the 4S & Turbo).
5. Not just an EV, it's a Porsche.
Porsche's first all-electric vehicle is changing the EV game and setting a new bar for how electric vehicles should drive. Driving an EV shouldn't mean you need to compromise on important characteristics like handling, braking and build quality to name a few. Porsche has incorporated many of their signature design elements into the design of the Taycan and even debuted some new features like the intuitive 10.9-inch touchscreen integrated into the centre console. Steering wheel-mounted controls and the all-new touch panel buttons make for a much cleaner design, but still maintain the familiar driving experience we've grown accustomed to.
So, my next question to YOU is, what are you waiting for??
