The Taycan made a surprise appearance at the Formula E finale in New York City earlier this month in the last stop of the three-part run in preparation for the much-anticipated launch at the end of the year. The triple demo run had 3 professional drivers test the still camouflaged Taycan in three different locations: China, Great Britain, and the U.S.- all important markets for Porsche’s fist ever electric vehicle.
Neel Jani, a Porsche Works driver since 2013, had the honor of driving the Taycan at the Formula E finale in Brooklyn, New York. Jani was “surprised by the long range of the new Taycan even when driven spiritedly round a race track.”
The Taycan’s impressive range has much to do with the performance-oriented battery, part of their electromobility strategy. The Porsche Charging System enables Europe wide access to 70 000 charging stations, as well as available install for home chargers. The charging stations also provide central billing through Porsche, simplifying the process.
The Taycan is much anticipated, with over 20,000 prospective buyers worldwide who have made a deposit and have been put on a wait list. The Taycan is set to be officially revealed in September, with an official launch not yet confirmed.
