Porsche Living Colour
Porsche Living Colour

According to surveys, 60% of people choose colour as the most important factor when purchasing a car. In today’s market, they don’t necessarily choose their favourite colour but rather generally select something discreet and understated. A few decades ago, red was the most popular color for cars, but in 2020, 77% of new cars sold in North America were white, black, silver, or gray.

A Porsche already pulls focus due to its compelling design and performance, so there is nothing wrong with selecting a more reserved colour. But for those interested, a whole rainbow awaits just beyond your comfort zone.

Porsche’s Exclusiv Manufaktur Program

Through Porsche’s personalization program, your personal desire becomes our sole focus.  Our specially trained sales consultants work together with you to develop your personalized vehicle completely on your own terms and according to your personal needs and interests. Together with you, we design charismatic vehicles, harmonious in their entirety, down to the smallest detail. The result: a bespoke dream car that represents a very specific attitude towards life: yours. The program covers all levels of design for a Porsche from the interior stitching to the badges on the rear apron. But the most common element is: colour.

To understand the scope of the Porsche’s Exclusiv Manufaktur commitment to personal expression take a look at the Python Green Chromaflair on this Porsche 911 991.2 generation Turbo S. This viral beauty was customized for a customer and was featured at the AvD Oldtime Grand Prix at the Nurburgring in 2017.

Settling on a colour is often the hardest part. How can you distill everything you want to say about yourself into one shade? To help with the decision making, the Porsche Club of America launched Rennbow which is a database of historical Porsche paint codes to reference. The database contains more than 500 individual color options and covers almost every single Porsche colour produced since 1950. It also includes more than 1,800 images of various Porsches in the corresponding colors and a one-to-five rarity scale for each colour so you can be sure you’re choosing a colour that will set you apart.

On a molecular level, colours are different combinations of electromagnetic waves that our retinas translate into nerve impulses. These signals are transmitted to the visual cortex of our brain, which gives us the conscious sensation of color. Which effectively means, colours exist only in our mind and how that colour is interpreted is only limited by our imagination.
