There’s a burgeoning enthusiasm for sustainable transportation here in Kitchener-Waterloo. It stems from the tech roots that run deep through our community. As Canada works to become a net-zero nation by 2050, the demand for electric mobility grows and the Porsche Taycan is at the forefront. It’s a symbol of electric luxury. The new Taycan is redefining the driving experience for residents of Kitchener-Waterloo and it might be the best vehicle on the market for drivers in the region.
“We ushered in the new era of e-mobility with the Taycan at the end of 2019,” says Kevin Giek, head of the Taycan model line. “It immediately proved to be a game changer and innovative pioneer in the e-vehicle segment. We are now continuing this success story with the extensively updated Taycan.”
Here’s why we believe the new Taycan is the top choice for drivers in KW.
Adaptability to Canadian climate
Kitchener-Waterloo motorists are well-acquainted with the area’s diverse weather conditions, from snowy and icy winters to humid summers. Improvements to the 2024 Taycan’s advanced all-wheel-drive system, including a new rear-axle motor with up to 80 kW more power than its predecessor, ensures optimal performance regardless of the weather. Revised thermal management, a modified pulse inverter with optimized software, and a next-gen heat pump further add to the reliability of the electrified four-seat sedan.
AA trim for every type of driver
The 2024 Porsche Taycan has remarkable power. The brand’s rich motorsport history can be felt the moment your foot touches the accelerator. What’s more, there are eight different trims available with the 2024 Taycan, meaning there’s a performance level that will satisfy every type of driver. The 2024 Taycan 4S and Taycan Turbo S both go from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. That’s 0.6 and 0.4 seconds faster than the previous gen.
“The [Taycan] model line has reached new heights in terms of performance, with exceptional driving dynamics and driving pleasure,” says Giek. “At the same time, we were able to significantly improve efficiency, range, day-to-day usability and comfort.”
The 2024 trims include:
- 4S
- 4S Cross Turismo
- GTS
- GTS Sport Turismo
- Turbo
- Turbo Cross Turismo
- Turbo S
- Turbo S Cross Turismo
Luxurious comfort and technology
From premium materials to a redesigned infotainment system, every element of the new Taycan elevates the driving experience. With features like Porsche Communication Management and advanced driver-assistance systems, the Taycan integrates technology in a way that is pleasurable for both the driver and passengers.
Impressive range for longer drives
The 2024 Taycan gets 35 per cent more range than its predecessor and is able to clock up to 678 km on a charge (weather, model, and driving style will alter this). Updates to the 2024 Taycan means fewer stops to charge during long drives and also faster charging times when you do.
At 800-volt DC ports the 2024 Taycan be charged at up to 320 kW, which is 50 kW more than its predecessor. First-gen Taycan batteries can go from 10 to 80 per cent in 15° C weather in 37 minutes. The 2024 Taycan does the same in just 18 minutes.
Accessible charging infrastructure
Kitchener-Waterloo is diligently working on its electric vehicle infrastructure and the number of charging stations in the region is growing. Whether you’re commuting within the city or taking longer trips, accessing charging facilities in the area is convenient and hassle-free.
