Last week, a GT2 RS was dropped off at Porsche Centre Langley sporting the standard option Black Paint from the configurator. The interior boasts a massive amount of gorgeous red alcantara and perfectly finished carbon trim. When you sit in the driver seat, you start to notice how much time and effort goes into these interiors. The headrests flash the beautiful Weissach RS logo embroidery and in the rear of the cabin you’ll see “GT2 RS” stitched into the tunnel that covers the PDK trans axle. The detail is even carried through to the dashboard, where the TPMS and door warning readout show a little picture of a GT2 RS right down to the black scoops on the hood. If a passenger is brave enough to get in with you, they’ll notice the beautiful Weissach RS plaque atop the carbon trim that runs the length of the glove compartment. An interior like this is something to behold, and a place any car lover could enjoy some time just sitting and staring.
If you don’t feel intimidated, excited or nostalgic just looking at this car, you might want to check your pulse. The exterior sports all kinds of carbon fiber accents and tasteful graphics that will let everyone at the track know what they just got schooled by. If you pop the back decklid open and click the safety latch you’ll quickly notice the forged carbon liner that covers the rear fan. Below that are the aluminum shrouds that sport the GT2 RS logo, just in case you forgot what you were looking at. The fans and the shrouds are even finished nicely and surrounded by more carbon fiber, held on by tidy looking stainless-steel bolts and washers.
If you’re one of those car people who likes to have a look down low, you’ll notice a deep mounted rear diffuser to help quickly evacuate air from under the car and make even more downforce at high speed. If your eyes happen to peek down the barrel of the exhaust tip then you’ll notice the valve and second pipe that make up the cars Sport Exhaust system. When turned off, the exhaust goes through a muffler and catalytic converter. When the sport system is activated, however, you get an amplified roar from those big turbos.
This is not a car to take lightly. The fit and finish is extraordinary and the finer details are definitely something to behold. All these little things add up to a car worthy of its heritage and prowess on the track. We love to see these cars in our showroom as it adds a tier of wonder and excitement and can brighten the day of any Porsche lover.
