The very first 100 % electric car to be offered by the German manufacturer, the Porsche Taycan electric model has been on the market since 2019 and its popularity has continually been growing ever since.
Porsche Lauzon, your Porsche dealership located in Laval, on the North Shore of Montreal, tells you more about the latest model-year of this fabulous 4- door coupe: the electrifying 2023 Porsche Taycan!
What’s new for the Taycan in 2023?
Outstanding as it is already, the all-new 2023 iteration still adds new rim choices, with a diameter that can vary between 19 and 21 inches. Take note, however, that the entry-level version –the 4 Cross Turismo- will not be back on the catalog this year. The following trim –the 4 S- becomes the base trim level for the 2023 Taycan.
Moreover, Porsche has confirmed that it will now be much quicker to charge your Taycan, thanks to a software update. Are you a Taycan owner, from a previous model-year? No worries: the manufacturer has announced that updates will also be offered for models from previous years, allowing them to also benefit from quicker charging times.
Finally, the navigation system as well as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Spotify voice commands have also been upgraded and optimized.
Greater autonomy
Although official numbers have not been made available yet by Porsche, the German manufacturer announces that the 2023 Taycan will be offering an electric range that is 50 km greater than the current one, for all trim levels. For the time being, the electric autonomy for the Porsche Taycan varies from 320 to 363 kilometers.
A bold design
If you are the type of person who loves to remain unseen or anonymous on the roads, you certainly won’t achieve this with the Taycan! In fact, the sculpted and aerodynamic lines will definitely turn heads everywhere you go. Combining a timeless design that is typically Porsche, with sportier and more streamlined lines worthy of a coupe, the Taycan also stands out with a front fascia that is worthy of its badge. It also boasts 4-point LED headlights and a sloped hood. Moreover, the Taycan is also available in a more rugged wagon variant, which is called the “Cross Turismo”.
We also notice its “Air Curtains” –which are lateral air intakes located ahead of the front wheels- a panoramic roof, retractable door handles as well as a lighting Porsche strip at the rear which includes an embossed PORSCHE logo. Let’s also not forget the rounded rear end of the Cross Turismo versions.
A luxurious, versatile, and sporty interior
The interior stays also true to the 2023 Porsche Taycan’s sporty nature, with fabrics and leathers of the highest quality, offered in a wide variety of colors and color combinations for the best possible customization experience.
Capable of welcoming up to 4 passengers, it is also possible to choose –as an additional option- a 2+1 rear seat configuration, which offers enough seating for 5 people. Wood, carbon fiber or aluminum trims can also be added to the Taycan cabin, depending on the selected package and options.
2023 Porsche Taycan: Technical features and performance
Bold design and high-quality materials are definitely typical of a Porsche vehicle, but there is another characteristic that is true to the manufacturer as well: very high levels of performance. When it comes to the Taycan, it is clear that engineers have definitely done their homework, especially when it comes to adding remarkably highly capable electric motors regardless of the trim level.
So, from the entry level 4 S model with 469 horsepower to the more powerful Turbo S versions with no less than 750 horsepower, the 2023 Porsche Taycan will provide you with an exceptional driving experience as well as extremely sporty powertrains, as we have come to expect from Porsche.
Moreover, depending on the selected version (amongst the 8 available trims), your vehicle could reach a top speed that can vary from 240 to 260 km/hr, which is truly remarkable for a fully electric vehicle!
When it comes to charging times, they are identical on all versions, since all trims have a 79.2 kWh battery. This translates into a 9.5 hr charge on a 240 V charging station, and you will need only 22.5 minutes to reach an 80 % charge, should you plug your Taycan into an 800 V charging station.
Different types of bodies for the 2023 Porsche Taycan
This sports vehicle offers different types of bodies:
- Sport Sedan: 4 S, GTS, Turbo and Turbo S
- Sport Turismo: GTS Sport Turismo
- Cross Turismo: 4 S, Turbo and Turbo S
While the Sport Sedan has a sports car silhouette, the Sport and Cross Turismo versions boast a design that, although dynamic, is much closer to that of wagon vehicles. This also means that it provides you with more cargo space than standard models.
