The No. 9 Driveway Porsche 911 GT3 R was running in second place when the race was red-flagged due to weather with nearly 90 minutes remaining in the endurance round. However, after the storm passed, an estimated ten minutes was added to the clock to run a final sprint of 35 minutes to the checkered flag.
The additional time forced the team to pit in the closing laps for fuel, which dropped the car to fourth place at the checkered flag. However, a higher-placing competitor was deemed to not meet drive-time requirements, so Pfaff Motorsports was elevated to third place.
The podium is an overall success for the team after entering the weekend with a Balance of Performance adjustment following its victory at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in May. It also means Pfaff Motorsports extended its championship lead ahead of its home race this upcoming weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
The Chevrolet Grand Prix at CTMP kicks off the second half of the season and is scheduled for Sunday, July 3, at 3:05 p.m. ET. NBC Network will televise the race flag-to-flag in the United States, with REV.tv and IMSA.tv coverage available for Canadian viewers. Follow along with Pfaff Motorsports throughout the weekend on the team’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages and with the hashtags #ChevroletGrandPrix or #CTMPlife.
