Types of Public Charging Stations

When you’re looking for a public charging station, you’ll come across two options:

• Level 2 Charging Stations
• Fast/DC-Quick Charging Stations

Level 2 Charging Stations are a great choice if you’re going to be in the same location for a few hours, although you can certainly use them for a short time. These charging stations are generally free to use but sometimes charge depending on the company that owns the station.

Level 3 or Fast/DC Quick Charging Stations are the fastest available. Level 3 Stations are ideal if you’re on a road trip or only have a short amount of time to charge your EV.

Most of these cost money to use. Using a Public Charging Station Public charging stations are simple to use. You can find these stations using apps like ChargeHub or PlugShare, which inform you of the location of charging stations, station types, and availability.

Step One: Plug in Your EV
The first thing you’ll do is select your station and plug in your vehicle.
Step Two: Pay for Your Charging Session
Once you’ve plugged in your vehicle, you’ll be prompted to input payment information. Some charging stations use an app for payment information, while others have payment systems built into the station.
Step Three: Charging Session Begins
Your charging session will begin when your payment information is accepted. The charging stations with apps allow you to track your session and get notifications when your session is completed.

While your vehicle is charging, you can wait with your car, grab a cup of coffee, or run some errands.
