Driving in its most beautiful form

Six decades of the Porsche 911. Six decades of pure exhilaration and driving enjoyment. For 60 years, the Porsche 911 has been the very definition of a sports car, and far more than a mere means of transport. Over the decades, Porsche has crafted the 911 into a cult classic for car-lovers, while at the same time keeping it at the technological cutting edge with a steady flow of innovation. Porsche’s leitmotif for 60 years: “driving in its most beautiful form”.

No other car in the world can match the depth of tradition and development of the Porsche 911. Ever since it was first unveiled as the Type 901 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) in September 1963, it has continued to impress car enthusiasts all around the world. The 911 is the beating heart of the Porsche brand and largely responsible for the company’s design DNA – not only for all of its eight generations but also for all Porsche models. Every Porsche, after all, is among the sportiest cars in its respective segment.

Porsche 911 Dakar Wrap History
Porsche is synonymous with sports cars, and for a good reason. But there are some who might not know that the 911 has a long and storied history of participating in the rally racing circuit, dating back to the 1970s. History and legacy are very important to Porsche enthusiasts, and our manufacturing partner is really leaning into that with a series of wraps for the Porsche 911. There are three Porsche 911 wraps available that honour this off-road racing heritage. Follow along with Mark Motors Porsche while we take a closer look at what is available.
Rallye 1971
Just because a wrap is simple, it doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of history behind the design. The Rallye 1971 wrap uses high-contrast and refined black graphics to honour drivers Sobiesław Zasada and Marian Bień, who took fifth during the 1971 race. The number 19 placed on the car’s doors is a reference to the most successful 911 model that took part in the Dakar race.

Rallye 1974
The East African Safari Rally took place in 1974, featuring stages as long as 2,000 km. Björn Waldegård and Hans Thorszelius piloted a 911 Carrera 2.7 RS. Mark Motors Porsche customers interested in this wrap option will see the same number 19 on the doors, but there are also a few exclusive elements, including blue stripes tracing the shoulders and a different Porsche logo across the bottom of the doors.
Rallye 1978

Waldegård gets a second nod among the historic 911 wraps being offered by our manufacturing partner. The Rallye 1978 wrap commemorates a later East African race. Buyers choosing this option will get:

  • Orange and grey wave elements

  • No. 14 on the doors

  • White base colour

These wraps are only available through authorized Porsche dealerships, like Mark Motors Porsche. If one of these would look good in your garage, make an appointment with one of our product experts, today.
