Porsche engineers have provided three different powertrains to customers choosing among the 12 different Taycan iterations. As a Mark Motors Porsche customer climbs the vehicle’s trim ladder, they will have access to increasingly powerful electric powertrains that demonstrate increasingly higher performance outputs.
Entry-level Taycan models will use a single rear-mounted electric motor that will produce 320 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, or as much as 402 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque with the Performance Battery Plus. Moving into the Taycan 4S, Taycan GTS, Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S use two electric motors with the automaker’s electronic all-wheel drive system and Porsche Traction Management. These models will produce between 472 and 616 horsepower, or as much as 750 horsepower with launch control.
The various electric motors used to put the Porsche Taycan in motion are powered by one of the most advanced battery systems in the entire automotive industry. Driving range is, naturally, going to be a concern for anyone making the jump into an EV platform. Rest assured, Porsche has done the work to make sure Taycan can get its passengers where they needs to go.
How far a Porsche Taycan will travel on a single charge will depend on how the vehicle is outfitted. The base model Taycan can travel up to 335 km (208 miles). The Taycan GTS offers the longest driving distance, coming in at 396 km (246 miles). Porsche has also included a regenerative braking system with the Taycan, allowing for up to a third of the battery’s charge to be recovered during a trip.
