This year’s Auto Shanghai in China was full of action, including the reveal of Porsche’s all-new digital display and control system, the Porsche Driver Experience. The intuitive technology made its debut in the all-new 2024 Cayenne and will revolutionize the driver and vehicle connection into one seamless, luxurious experience.
The entire design of the Porsche Driver Experience system, including the instrument panel, centre console and upper part of the inside of the door, has been completely reworked to offer a sophisticated, sleek and sporty look. There’s a distinct horizontal emphasis on the dash with the redesign, making the overall cabin interior appear spacious and wide.
You might notice that the Porsche Driver Experience shares similarities to the Taycan. Its design was heavily influenced by the Taycan’s impressive interior controls and provides both the driver and front seat passenger a more intensive driving experience.
All of your important Porsche controls in one easy-to-access place
The placement of each of the controls has been carefully considered and the importance of each has been ranked and grouped together. All of the priority controls can be found in one place around the steering wheel, including a newly reimagined control lever. The new design on the steering wheel means that some traditional features have moved around. The gear selector, for example, can now be found between the instrument cluster and the central display, to the right of the steering wheel.
Central display screen more intuitive than ever
The key feature of the Porsche Driver Experience is the new high-resolution 12.3-inch central display screen. It’s the cornerstone of the system. This is the control centre of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and is the place where the driver will access countless driving and comfort functions, from navigation to cabin temperature, media, phone calls and more.
Front seat passenger comfort and controls improve
Porsche has primarily been driver-focused, but the new Driver Experience system is elevating the front seat passenger experience, too. An optional 10.9-inch touchscreen display provides direct control to a variety of in-car comfort functionalities, like media and navigation. The passenger screen will even stream video and a special foil over this specific screen means that it won’t distract the driver.
Further, the new Porsche Driver Experience system has improved connectivity. There’s a cooled smartphone storage compartment that has an inductive charging function, which will juice up your device faster. Additional USB-C ports have also been added, including two in the front storage compartment as well as an additional two in the back of the centre console.
