Dr. Natasha Williams is a master of turning her dreams into reality. The 47-year-old clinical psychologist was born and raised in the GTA by her parents who immigrated from the Commonwealth of Dominica. From a young age, Williams’ parents—her mother, a clerical worker and father, a general laborer— showed her the importance of a strong work ethic, but it was the value of cultural knowledge and appreciation that really stuck with Williams throughout her adolescence and into adulthood.
“Formal education and independence, in particular as a Black woman, was instilled in me from an early age,” she says. “I was always told that I could be whatever I wanted to be and that support was critical in everything that I pursued.”
This supportive upbringing drove her to pursue a career in psychology, accept international speaking gigs and author a book.
Today, Williams proudly drives a 2023 Porsche Macan. It’s a symbol of the hard work she’s put in to get where she is today, both professionally and personally.
“Porsche is special to me because it is a symbol of how far I have come, despite adversity,” she says. “It is such a reputable brand and when others see me in the car, there is a level of respect, admiration and appreciation.”
Williams’ current Macan is in the colour Payapa Metallic, a bold and vibrant hue that stands out wherever she goes. It gives tropical vibes, she says, noting that she named the vehicle Nefertiti, Queen of the 18th Dynasty in Ancient Egypt, which represents the many facets of her personality.
While Williams feels right at home in the Porsche family today, getting here wasn’t easy. It required tenacity, grit and perseverance. She remembers a defeat in her early days of University where she failed her first post-secondary exam.
“I was an ‘A’ average student coming out of high school and I was not a stranger to hard work, so to study for an exam and still fail it—I was devastated,” she says “What it taught me at a young age is that failure does not mean that I have failed—it just means that I may have to take a different approach to success.”
It’s this fluid and positive outlook that has made Williams’ dreams, including Porsche ownership, come to fruition. Without it, she wouldn’t have made that first appointment with Porsche Centre Oakville’s Mitzi Brown years ago.
Williams remembers her first meeting at the Porsche Centre Oakville dealership in 2019, where she admitted to Brown that while it was a dream of hers to own a Porsche, she had people in her life telling her that it was just that: a dream that would never come true. At the time, Williams says, she believed those negative whispers.
“After that meeting, I went out and bought two coffee table books—one for a Macan and one for a Panamera—and I placed them on my coffee table where I could see them everyday,” she recalls. “I told myself that one day my dream will become reality.”
One year later, she left our dealership in her first-ever Porsche.
“For me, Porsche represents not settling for what others tell you what you can and cannot do. It is a representation of the gratitude that I feel for not giving up on my dreams and how your dreams can become a reality.”
