Around the 2012 Geneva Auto Show Porsche confirmed that their upcoming compact crossover SUV would be called the Macan. The name is from the Indonesian word for Tiger. Porsche will be entering a crowed segment including BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLK and others. The vehicle has been the subject of more spy shots than Kate Middleton - yet its true lines have remained elusive (hummm - just like the Indonesian Tiger). Porsche’s sales estimates were originally in the neighbourhood of 50,000-55,000 units per year. However that number has been increased to 75,000 units. For a company with a smaller lineup compared to its immediate competition this should be a nice addition to the bottom line. Porsche is hoping this will be the next Cayenne - remember when that came out - it sold like bottled water. Granted we may be a little biased - but we think this Porsche has great potential. Do you think the Macan has a bright future with Porsche?
