Welcoming a new Porsche model to Canada is always exciting, but the recent arrival of the new 911 felt like the beginning of a new era. As such, we knew we needed to roll out the red carpet. With the grand reveal of the newest generation of the 911, the 992 Porsche 911, Porsche Centre Oakville presented not only the future of the iconic sports car, but also a glimpse at the past.
The unveiling took place mid-September, with multiple waves of Porsche enthusiasts coming in to experience the reveal of the new 992 alongside an example of every generation of 911, including a first-generation 1967 911 customer car.
Specifically refined on the racetrack to deliver a unique embodiment of its track counterpart, the GT3 that Porsche Centre Oakville also proudly displayed, the latest generation of the 911 is the modern embodiment of its predecessors, retaining the heritage and history of Ferdinand Porsche’s first dream car, while adopting the latest in modern technology to become the current vision of the long-lasting dream of the brand founder.
Displayed in the same room, the new 992 and the classic 1967 Porsche 911 show how the DNA of the 911 has remained intact throughout the generations. The 911 has retained its strikingly recognizable silhouette while adopting more power and technology though the years to become the perfected highly refined luxury sports car built for both the road and track.
And you can notice this trend in the newest generation, the Porsche 992. The same timeless design is immediately apparent, but has been brought into the modern era with elements added to this vehicle such as heightened on-road dynamics, multiple assistance systems and intelligent road control.
During the three event waves that took place during the day, PCO GM Anthony Poole spoke to the groups about the history of the brand and the Centre’s continued dedication to delivering customers’ dream cars to their driveways. The evening event featured a presentation by Policaro Group CEO Francesco Policaro, who was joined by his son, who reflected on the power of carrying a legacy over generations.
Guests enjoyed some snacks and beverages while scoping out the new 992 and range of older 911s, and were given the opportunity to commemorate the night with a turn in the photo booth.
If you missed the event but still want to put eyes on the new Porsche 911, please don’t hesitate to stop by the dealership. We’d be happy to show you around the newest Porsche legend.
