911 GT3 R rennsport

Unveiled at the seventh Rennsport Reunion, the Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport edition was without a doubt the highlight at this meet. For this spectacular circuit car, Porsche did not abide by typical racing series rules by giving it more power (yes, such a thing was made possible) and therefore unleashing maximum performance. Porsche broke the rules and pushed the GT3 R to another level of performance for this special limited edition where only the hood and the roof were kept from the famous GT3 R and where everything else was revisited to give more efficient aerodynamics and more downforce. All about weight reduction, the key element that plays a major role in the performance. In fact, the conventional mirrors along with the air conditioning system were removed, brake pads with titanium backing plates and a lighter fuel tank were installed and an open rear fascia was designed with the same goal in mind. This single-seater racing car oversteps the powertrain rule; a power unit that delivers 611 horsepower when revving up to 9 400 rpm from a 4.2-liter flat-six engine and a six-speed gearbox with a higher sixth gear. A real “tour de force”.

Let’s hear it

With or without mufflers? Both? The Rennsport received a new racing exhaust completely without mufflers, twin tailpipes centrally positioned for an authentic and extremely emotional engine sound. For those who would want to hear a little less roar and be legit to run the car on a track, two muffled and catalytic converter versions are also available.
