Constantly looking for thrills
Kevin has always been passionate about cars and adrenaline. By the time he was 3 years old, he could name all the makes and models of vehicles he came across. Having just blown out the candles on his sixth birthday, he was already trying to control the wheel, on his father's lap.
“I remember when my dad was teaching me how to drive the country roads first in his Mazda RX-7, at that very moment I knew that driving would be a big part of my life. He said.
Years of trying to beat the best times at the well-known video game, Gran Turismo, until the "big" day arrived. At 16, he was going to get his first car, a shiny Nissan 240SX. He quickly developed his driving techniques in several autodromes in Quebec, including the St-Eustache circuit, where he constantly pushed the limit of grip of the tires of his car. Over time, Kevin will buy and sell more than 80 cars, which will allow him to hone his driving skills and thus master the various powertrains.
“Obviously, considering my young age, and a rather small budget. Newer luxury cars weren't exactly what I was looking for. However, having owned more than 80 Japanese cars, I quickly became a benchmark with those around me in terms of savings, both from a “purchase” and “mechanical repair” perspective. I've had a few favorite models, starting with the Toyota MR2 and the Mazda MX-5 Miata, two light and super manoeuvrable cars. Not to mention the Nissan Silvia which I loved driving on the Japanese circuits. "
In 2018, Kevin traveled to the city of Nihonmatsu, a Japanese city located in Fukushima prefecture, to refine his drift techniques.
“My best friend and I set out with the goal of getting a car there to eventually become masters in the art of drifting. Drifting is the equivalent of figure skating in motor racing. The goal is to keep the car drifting while having as much angle, speed and style as possible. Of course, it was difficult for us to talk about our exploits in Japan, without our Quebec friends having a reasonable doubt about the veracity of our stories. So, without doubting our talent for a second, we put our names and the Canadian flag on our respective vehicles, as the professionals do. "
The Ebisu Circuit complex includes 9 world-famous tracks. The most popular circuit is the Minami course which is also used for the D1 Grand Prix and several other World Drift events.
