1- Preparation of the garage floor, or warehouse
Sweep to keep the floor free of dust. If soil moisture can be a problem, place a tarp to prevent this moisture from affecting the body.
2- Replacing the engine oil and filter
After the oil has been replaced, drive your Porsche long enough for the engine oil to reach operating temperature.
3- Vehicle cleaning and waxing
Do a good interior and exterior cleaning to prevent the dirt from turning into persistent stains. Apply several coats of wax to the paint if possible.
4- Cleaning the inside and outside of the wheels
To prevent brake dust from staining the inside of your wheels, it is important that they are clean before storage.
5- Packaging of rubber articles
Use a conditioning compound on exterior rubber and plastic items to prevent cracking due to temperature changes.
6- Filling the gasoline tank
Fill your Porsche with (Super) gasoline to prevent condensation and reduce the air space in the fuel tank.
7- Using a fuel stabilizer
After refueling, drive a few kms to get the additive through the fuel system to protect the fuel tank and fuel lines.
8- Filling of all fluids
Specifically, antifreeze, windshield washer fluid and brake fluid. Run the engine of your Porsche to make sure that fluids have circulated properly throughout the engine.
9- Tire pressure check
When cold, overinflate the tires by about 8 to 10 psi. No need for jack stands or lifting your Porsche.
10- andbrake release
Use a piece of wood under the front and back of a tire to hold the car in place. Then release the handbrake in order to relieve the stress on the mechanical parts.
11- Maintains battery charge
Install a charge maintainer through your cigarette lighter in order to preserve the life of your battery.
12- Windshield wiper adjustment
Install a rag or cloth between your wipers and the windshield to eliminate the possibility of streaking or breaking the wiper.
13- Window adjustment
Lower the windows about 10 mm (3/8 inch) to relieve the pressure on the rubber seals and thus prolong their life. It will also allow air to circulate in the vehicle and prevent condensation.
14- Elimination of rodent possibility
Close warehouse openings to keep critters out. Place Irish spring soap bars or mothballs.
15- Cover for exhaust pipes
Cover the muffler to further prevent rodents from nesting.
16- Vehicle recovery
To protect the paintwork from dirt and dust. Use an inner cover for indoor storage and use an outer cover for outdoor storage.
17- Do not start the car during the winter
As tempting as it is, do not start the vehicle until it is ready to come out of storage.
Storing an electric car like the Taycan is relatively simple. However, some aspects are very important in order to properly preserve all its components.
