Porsche Design, founded in 1972 by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the designer of the Porsche 911, extends Porsche’s engineering philosophy beyond automobiles into watchmaking. The brand revolutionized the industry the same year with the Chronograph 1, the world’s first all-black chronograph, inspired by the 911 cockpit and guided by the principle “form follows function.” Renowned for robust, purpose-built watches, military influences, and cultural recognition, Porsche Design pioneered the use of titanium in watchmaking, setting new standards for lightweight durability and performance. Through continued material innovation and automotive-driven precision, along with strategic collaborations with respected Swiss partners such as Orfina and IWC, Porsche Design has secured its reputation as a serious and respected watchmaker.

In 2014, Porsche Design took full control of its destiny by opening its own watch manufactory in Solothurn, Switzerland. More recently, the brand relocated to Grenchen, deep in the heart of Swiss watchmaking country. There, Porsche Design produces COSC‑certified in‑house movements. Since then, Porsche Design has invested heavily in developing its Custom‑Built Timepiece Program, introducing an unprecedented level of customization through its unique Timepiece Configurator and one‑watch‑to‑one‑car concept. Each watch is uniquely tied to a specific Porsche 911 or GT model and configured using the car’s exact specifications.
