Set to arrive in spring next year, the new 2022 Panamera Platinum Edition promises the ideal mix of desirable luxury features and strong entry-level performance, along with some unique details to help set it apart from other trims Porsche is offering on its flagship four-door coupe.
The renewed trim line, which is now available to order with a base Panamera Platinum Edition rear-wheel drive powertrain for $103,250, a Panamera 4 Platinum Edition all-wheel drive layout for $107,350, or a Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Platinum Edition setup for $116,550 (all including the $1,350 destination charge), features a unique Satin Platinum finish on the side air outlet grilles and rear model designation lettering, not to mention the 21-inch Exclusive Design Sport wheels, while Porsche also adds black-painted Sport tailpipes to the mix, as well as high-gloss black window trim.
Capping off the look and enhancing visual performance is the Porsche Dynamic Lighting System Plus (PDLS+), as well as a set of Exclusive Design taillights. Lastly, the choice of 13 standard, no-cost metallic colours allow you to customize your Panamera Platinum Edition’s look, while additional optional paints can provide even greater personalization.
Loads of bundled features make for a good value proposition
On the way inside you’ll pass over beautifully brushed aluminum sill guards embossed with “Platinum Edition” script, plus Porsche also embroiders the same name onto the headrests, while additional upgrades include soft close doors, black brushed aluminum interior trim, 14-way comfort seats that are both heated and cooled up front and heatable in back, four-zone climate control, a Bose Surround Sound audio system, and blind spot monitoring with Lane Change Assist.
Additionally, 2022 Platinum Edition trim features the latest generation Porsche Communication Management system, dubbed PCM 6.0, which boasts wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM 360L, plus many more functions.
Performance improves, but with a distinctive luxury bias
With an eye to performance, all Panamera Platinum Edition models come with Porsche’s Adaptive Air Suspension (PASM), which allows the selection of different ride heights and firmness levels to enhance comfort and control, while the premium performance brand’s Power Steering Plus is included too, this system automatically reducing required steering effort at low speeds for easier turn-in.
