Porsche Centre Victoria had a momentous weekend at the Rennsport Reunion 7, held at Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, from September 28 to October 1. This year the event — hailed as the world's largest gathering of Porsche race cars and drivers — was more than a car show: It was a meeting ground for Porsche enthusiasts, collectors, and legendary engineers. Alongside new vehicle reveals and rare Porsche models, attendees enjoyed riveting racing action, esports competitions, and fan zones.
The Origin & Theme
Conceived in 2001 by racing great Brian Redman and Porsche Cars North America’s Bob Carlson, Rennsport Reunion celebrates Porsche's racing heritage. This year, the event highlighted the "Porsche 75" theme, exploring 75 years of Porsche’s dreams, legacy, and passion. Particular attention was given to the 60th anniversary of the iconic Porsche 911 that has captivated fans for generations.
Spotlight on PCV’s Own
Our very own customer, Ron Dempsey, represented Porsche Centre Victoria by driving his ’87 Carrera Coupe from Victoria to Monterey. Alongside him, a convoy of classic Porsche owners ventured down the Pacific Coast Highway to partake in the events at Laguna Seca.
“[The Pacific Coast Highway] is not only a beautiful route, but there are also great winding sections for getting the most from the handling our cars provide. And with a few cars that have no air conditioning - it's also not too hot!”
Dempsey has been living in Victoria for the past ten years. His life-long love for Porsche is now stronger than ever after upgrading his '87 Carrera at Porsche Centre Victoria. The car now boasts over 230,000 km but feels as fresh as the day it left the factory.
For Ron, the Rennsport Reunion is not just another car event. Having raced vintage cars for 15 years, being at Laguna Seca held sentimental value. He relished the vendor displays, the cars from the Porsche Museum in Germany, and the camaraderie among Porsche enthusiasts.
