The New Cayenne Electric: Two worlds. One Legend.

There are moments when a name already engraved in the legend dares to rewrite its own destiny. It is rare for a model to change the course of history twice. Yet the Porsche Cayenne is poised to do exactly that once again.

In 2002, it silenced every doubt by proving that an SUV could embody power, sportiness and versatility without compromising the essence of Porsche. It was a defining moment, a clear reminder that Porsche does not follow roads, it creates them. The Cayenne opened an entirely new territory by transferring the legend of Porsche sports cars to a segment that never expected it, and becoming an instant global success.

Twenty-four years later, that original audacity returns in an entirely new form with the first all-electric Cayenne. It is now the most powerful Porsche production model ever built, while being more versatile than ever: incisive on the road, confident off-road and remarkably comfortable on long distances.

The most powerful Porsche ever built

The Cayenne Electric marks the beginning of a new era for Porsche, one in which electric performance reaches its pinnacle. The range is based on two models: the Cayenne Electric and the Cayenne Turbo Electric, both equipped with all-wheel drive electronic Porsche Traction Management (ePTM), ensuring exemplary traction regardless of terrain or conditions. The entry-level version already impresses with 442 horsepower (325 kW) and 835 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reaching 230 km/h with launch control.

However, it is the Cayenne Turbo Electric, now the most powerful production Porsche ever built, that truly pushes the boundaries. It combines sporting DNA with pioneering technology, delivering up to 1,139 horsepower (850 kW) and 1,500 Nm of torque for 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in just 7.4 seconds with launch control.

This power is made possible by an all-new electric powertrain. On the Turbo version, direct oil cooling of the rear motor is integrated, an innovation from motorsport that ensures continuous power and remarkable efficiency, even during repeated acceleration or under heavy load. The “Push-to-Pass” mode, standard on the Turbo, adds up to 173 horsepower (130 kW) for approximately ten seconds, providing an instant boost, ideal for overtaking.

From Formula E to the road

If the Cayenne Electric redefines raw performance, it also redefines how that performance is exploited. With recuperation levels comparable to those in Formula E, it can recover up to 600 kW of energy, allowing 97% of everyday braking to be handled solely by the electric motors. Mechanical brakes become almost secondary. On the Turbo version, ceramic composite brakes (PCCB) can be added as an option for more extreme braking demands.

This efficiency is complemented by a chassis designed to push the boundaries of versatility. Adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is standard across the range, continuously adjusting firmness to maintain an optimal balance between comfort and dynamism. The Cayenne Electric Turbo adds Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), enhancing agility in corners with improved lateral stabilization.

Both models can also be equipped with active rear-axle steering, which turns the rear wheels by up to five degrees for improved handling in the city and greater stability at high speed. For the first time on the Cayenne, Porsche Active Ride suspension is available as an option, offering effortless stability both on the road and off it.

Faster and smarter charging

At the heart of the Cayenne Electric is an electrical system designed to deliver performance not only on the road, but also during every charge. Its new 113 kWh high-voltage battery, with dual-side cooling to ensure optimum thermal stability, enables a range of up to 642 km for the Cayenne Electric and 623 km for the Turbo version. Using the 800-volt architecture inherited from motorsport, the Cayenne Electric can recover energy at a power of 390 kW, allowing it to go from 10% to 80% in less than 16 minutes. Ten minutes is enough to add more than 300 km of range.

For the first time in the model's history, the Cayenne also offers 11 kW wireless inductive charging, activated by parking over a dedicated charging plate to start the process automatically.

Function finds its form

The Cayenne Electric marks a new step in the evolution of Porsche's design language: a more refined silhouette, a more technical look, and an even more assertive presence. As Michael Mauer, Head of Design, points out, “The new Cayenne Electric is unmistakably a Porsche and unmistakably a Cayenne.” Everything has been done to ensure that this remains obvious, while propelling it into a new era. The iconic “flyline” remains intact, the sloping rear profile that has been a trademark of every Porsche for decades. The sculpted fenders and lowered hood reinforce the perception of width and stability. The new HD Matrix LED headlights, integrated into a compact module, concentrate all lighting functions into a precise unit designed to optimize visibility and visual signature.

From the side, the new frameless doors and pronounced creases in the door surfaces redefine the Cayenne's stature, more athletic, more modern, and more muscular. The three-dimensional side skirts are painted in “Volcano Gray Metallic" on the Cayenne Electric and in high-gloss black on the Cayenne Electric Turbo. The two-tone concept emphasizes the car's sporty proportions. At the rear, the reinterpreted light signature takes on a three-dimensional depth, with the Porsche lettering illuminated and integrated into a continuous strip. On the Turbo, the exclusive “Turbonite” color is featured on numerous elements, including the Porsche crests, alloy wheel faces, and side window trims, discreetly recalling the heritage of the most powerful models.

For off-road enthusiasts with specific requirements in terms of approach angle, robustness, and wading depth, the “Off-Road Package” adds a reinforced front section that optimizes the protection of the vehicle and allows full use of the wading capacity of up to 500 mm.

Air as an ally

With a drag coefficient of just 0.25 Cd, the Cayenne Electric is one of the most aerodynamic SUVs in its class. This is made possible by active air management, which adapts downforce and aerodynamics in real time depending on the driving situation. The Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) system uses movable air flaps integrated into the front end to regulate air intake and optimize cooling.

Added to this is an adaptive rear spoiler that adjusts its angle to increase stability at high speeds, as well as innovative active aero blades at the rear of the Turbo version that extend the edges to improve airflow properties. Together, these features contribute to improved range, especially at high speeds. Other elements complete this package: an almost entirely streamlined underbody, aerodynamically optimized wheels, and a rear diffuser that further refines airflow.

The largest display surface in a Porsche

The Cayenne Electric unveils a new generation of the Porsche Driver Experience, an interface that combines technology, ergonomics, and emotion. At the heart of the system is the Flow Display, an OLED screen integrated into the center console. It is complemented by the fully digital 14.25-inch instrument cluster, which displays key information clearly, and the optional 14.9-inch passenger display, which allows apps to be managed and multimedia content to be accessed without distracting the driver. Together, they form the largest continuous digital surface ever offered by Porsche.

For the first time, the Cayenne Electric also offers an 87-inch augmented reality head-up display, projecting key information directly into the driver's field of vision. In contrast, essential controls such as audio volume, air conditioning, and shortcuts remain physical to ensure intuitive operation. A dedicated support area has also been designed to optimize the precision of gestures on touch and analog surfaces.

The Cayenne Electric also introduces Porsche Digital Interaction and the Porsche App Center, which provide quick access to functions and third-party apps. The new AI-based Voice Pilot now understands complex requests, recognizes context, and responds more naturally. With the Porsche Digital Key, a smartphone or smartwatch can be used as a vehicle key and shared with up to seven users.

A cabin with infinite possibilities

The new Cayenne Electric is 55 millimeters longer than the combustion engine model. Its wheelbase, extended by almost 13 cm, offers significantly more generous rear space, especially for the legs. The standard electronically adjustable rear seats can be moved from a comfortable position to a cargo configuration in just a few gestures. The trunk offers between 781 and 1,588 liters of space, plus an additional 90 liters in the front compartment.

This new generation also introduces mood modes, an interior setting that adjusts the lighting, posture, and even the soundscape. The variable light-control panoramic roof, based on liquid crystal technology, transforms natural light into a true architectural element. Optional heating zones integrated into the side panels and armrests increase thermal comfort without consuming too much energy.

Never before has a Cayenne offered this much customization. The Cayenne Electric can be configured with thirteen exterior colors, nine different 20- to 22-inch wheel designs, twelve interior atmospheres, up to five interior packages, and five equipment packages. Add to that the Paint to Sample program and, to take the realization of your Porsche dreams even further, the Sonderwunsch program, which opens the door to virtually unlimited customization.

The evolution of the Cayenne was never about following trends; it was always about pushing the boundaries of what was possible. Whether powered by a combustion engine, a plug-in hybrid, or now fully electric, it is not three directions it is following, but a single idea that it is taking further, in three different forms.

The Cayenne Electric connects two worlds: the heritage of a brand born on the racetrack and a vision where electric performance reaches a level capable of bearing the Porsche name with the same legitimacy as a 911. More powerful, more intelligent, and more versatile, the Cayenne Electric remains true to the founding idea that form follows function.

The Cayenne changed history once. Today, the Cayenne Electric is set to do so again.
