The latest evolution of the 911 GTS has arrived; the 992.2 GTS. Experience the refined design, a modern digital driver experience, and, of course, that legendary 911 driving feeling taken to the next level with new T-Hybrid technology.
Exterior
Visually, you might think not a lot has changed. But if we take a closer look, you may notice the newly designed front apron with striking vertical aerodynamic elements, including adaptive air intake flaps, which works in tandem with driving preferences and weather conditions. The new matrix LED main headlights, which include all lighting functions such as the 4-point daytime running lights, increase the distinctive look of the 911 from afar with their lighting signature.
Interior
The interior in the new 911 GTS integrates technology seamlessly for a more connected driving experience, with enhanced Apple CarPlay, including advanced Siri functionality to manage vehicle functions more efficiently.
At the heart of the interior is a 21.65-inch curved display, highlighting a central rev counter in classic five-tube style or a streamlined Sport Chrono mode, giving drivers a choice between a traditional or modern layout.
Performance
Unlike your usual hybrid Porsche, the new T-Hybrid technology showcased for the first time in the new 992.2 GTS does not require you to plug it in. The primary focus of the new motorsport derived T-Hybrid system is to enhance performance. The GTS has a completely re-engineered 3.6-litre flat six engine which features an electric motor that helps power the turbocharger to eliminate lag, all whilst retaining that unmistakable engine sound synonymous with Porsche. This a big leap forward from the older generation as the new GTS can accelerate 0-62 mph in 3 seconds, which when compared to the 992.1 time of 4.2 seconds is a massive improvement.
The electric motor is integrated within the PDK transmission, and the lightweight and compact 400-volt traction battery has been engineered for enhanced performance, storing energy recovered through brake regeneration to deliver thrilling bursts of acceleration. In recuperation mode, energy from the exhaust stream is converted into electrical energy – just like the Porsche 919 Hybrid race car.
Rear-axle steering, included as standard with 911 GTS models, enhances performance and day-to-day usability in equal measure by turning both the front and rear wheels either in the same direction or the opposite direction depending on your speed. It makes manoeuvring at low speeds while turning easier while significantly increasing driving stability at higher speeds.
The new 992.2 GTS combines innovative technology with Porsche’s legendary driving feel, setting a new benchmark for the 911 line.
