Track to Tech: Scott Explores the Full Manthey Porsche Experience

Senior Sales Executive Scott Perkins has recently completed an immersive Manthey Racing training programme, gaining first-hand insight into one of Porsche’s most advanced performance upgrade partnerships.

The experience offered a comprehensive look at the key differences between standard Porsche vehicles and those enhanced with Manthey performance kits. Through a blend of classroom learning and practical track sessions, Scott explored the full “Manthey experience” — a package that goes far beyond components alone.

A Deeper Dive Into Manthey
The training began with an in-depth classroom session, where Scott was introduced to the philosophy and engineering behind Manthey upgrades. One key takeaway: Manthey is not just an aftermarket supplier — it is deeply embedded within Porsche’s ecosystem. Porsche owns a 51% stake in Manthey, underscoring the close collaboration between the two brands.

With the factory located next to the iconic Nürburgring, Manthey’s facility plays a critical role in Porsche’s motorsport and performance operations, including finishing all Porsche Cup cars. This proximity to one of the world’s most demanding circuits helps shape the development of Manthey’s performance upgrades.

Hands-On Track Experience
A standout element of the programme was the track session, where Scott spent 90 minutes driving four different vehicles, including:
Porsche 911 GT3 (with and without Manthey kit)
Porsche 911 GT3 RS (with and without kit)
This direct comparison allowed him to experience first-hand how Manthey enhancements influence handling, aerodynamics, and overall performance.

Flexibility and Customisation
One of the most valuable insights from the training was the flexibility Manthey offers customers. Unlike traditional upgrade packages, clients are not required to purchase a complete kit. Instead, individual components — such as suspension, aerodynamics, or braking systems — can be selected to suit specific driving needs.

Manthey also delivers a highly personalised service. Their team supports customers at track days and driving events, providing real-time vehicle adjustments including aero and suspension tuning. This “mobile” support ensures each car is optimised for performance in the moment.

Practical Benefits and Performance Gains
Scott also explored the tangible benefits of Manthey upgrades across a range of Porsche models, including:
718 GT4 and GT4 RS
911 (991.2) GT3 RS and GT2 RS
992 GT3, GT3 Touring, and GT3 RS
One standout performance enhancement is the lightweight wheel option. Each wheel delivers a 9.6kg weight reduction — amounting to an effective overall saving of nearly 70kg, comparable to removing an entire passenger from the vehicle. This significantly improves agility, acceleration, and braking performance.

Additionally, Manthey kits are fully integrated into Porsche’s technical ecosystem, meaning they are:
Covered by Porsche warranty
Recognised as official Porsche Tequipment

Considerations
While the benefits are clear, Scott noted that Manthey upgrades can increase downforce significantly — from approximately 860 to 1030 (units depending on model and configuration). While this improves track performance, it may also influence everyday drivability, making expert guidance essential when selecting options.

Extending the Experience
Customers investing in Manthey kits also gain access to exclusive events and track experiences, further enhancing the ownership journey and connecting them with a wider community of performance-focused Porsche drivers.
