Porsche Cayenne Electric Wins Top Gear EV Award
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric has been named Best Performance SUV at the annual Top Gear Magazine EV Awards, recognising the latest achievements in electric vehicle innovation.

Launched in November 2025, the Cayenne Electric signals a new era for Porsche, combining the brand’s traditional sports-car character with fully electric technology. First UK customer deliveries are expected to begin in early summer 2026.

The Cayenne Electric range includes three models; Cayenne Electric, Cayenne S Electric and Cayenne Turbo Electric, all featuring all-wheel drive and Porsche’s electronic traction management system. The electric versions join existing petrol and plug-in hybrid Cayenne models, giving customers multiple powertrain options. The award-winning Cayenne Turbo Electric stands out as Porsche’s most powerful production model to date. It produces up to 850 kW (1,156 PS), accelerates from 0–62 mph in 2.5 seconds, and offers a driving range of up to 398 miles, alongside charging capability of up to 400 kW.

Top Gear Associate Editor Tom Ford praised the SUV’s blend of practicality and extreme performance, calling it a “standout” electric performance vehicle. Performance is supported by a newly developed electric drive system delivering up to 1,500 Nm of torque, motorsport-inspired cooling technology, and features such as Launch Control and a Push-to-Pass power boost. Energy recovery reaches Formula E levels, allowing most braking to be handled by the electric motors alone.

All models come with adaptive air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management, while the Turbo version adds advanced chassis technologies including torque vectoring, optional rear-axle steering, and the debut of Porsche Active Ride suspension on a Cayenne model.
