The Porsche Taycan has been named Best Electric Performance Car in the What Car? Electric Car Awards for the fourth consecutive year. This accolade highlights the continued excellence of Porsche's fully electric model.
The Taycan's success is attributed to significant updates earlier this year, enhancing its power, range, and charging capabilities. The car also received design tweaks, additional standard features, and an improved driver interface. Development for these upgrades involved over two million miles of global testing.
The rear-wheel-drive Taycan now accelerates to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds, while the new Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package achieves the sprint in just 2.2 seconds. Despite these performance boosts, the range has increased by up to 35%, and a 10 to 80% charge can be achieved in just 18 minutes thanks to faster charging speeds.
What Car? praised the Taycan for its improved range, standard air suspension, and superior driving dynamics, stating, "While other electric performance cars fall short of the best petrol models when it comes to driving fun, the Taycan absolutely doesn’t."
The Taycan's recognition from What Car? follows its success in other awards, including Premium Electric Car of the Year by Auto Express and Best Performance EV by Top Gear.
