Over the past few days, we’ve been living the Porsche EV dream — and we’ve got to say, it’s been a ride full of surprises, comfort, and a few laughs along the way.
Our journey began at Gridserve, where Pete took the Taycan out for its first real-world charge. With 20% battery left after covering around 140 kilometres, "I was impressed with the efficiency. Topping up to 80% was simple."Amy cam across a small hiccup on her first charge: the app didn’t show the current charge status. Not a biggie though she gave it the classic IT fix: a quick shake! That raised a bug report straight to Porsche’s tech team in Germany.
Then came the frosty Lake District morning — and wow, did the preheat function come into its own. At the press of a button, the car turned into a warm haven. No scraping ice, no freezing hands. Just hop in and go. Pete even described it as “like a sauna” — in the best possible way.
In true Amy fashion, the final touch was getting her nails done to match the car. It’s all about attention to detail, right?
The week wasn’t just about commuting. They tested out public chargers too — including the one at Sainsbury’s, where as Amy found out, you can collect Nectar points while topping up.
Win-win.
On their final day, they brought along a little co-pilot who gave the Taycan a thumbs-up. And to round it all off? Pete checked out the back seat comfort. From frost-covered mornings to fast, quiet sprints — the Taycan delivered on every front.
Verdict: "We’re officially in love. Now… where do we sign up for that complimentary staff Porsche?"
