Sales Executive Robbie from Porsche Centre South Lakes took a fresh approach to exploring electric Porsche ownership—documenting a full day behind the wheel of the Taycan in a vlog-style journey that offered a realistic, practical look at EV life.
With the aim of demystifying public charging and daily usability, Robbie set out with a mission: to test how the Taycan fits into a normal day of errands, coffee runs, and spontaneous supermarket trips. His journey began with the My Porsche app, where he pre-conditioned the cabin to a comfortable temperature before heading out—demonstrating one of the key convenience features new EV owners will quickly come to appreciate.
After completing his first stop, Robbie used the Taycan’s intuitive PCM (Porsche Communication Management) system to set a course to the Porsche Centre’s turbochargers, showcasing how the vehicle preconditions the battery en route for optimum charging performance. On arrival, with the battery at 18% and ambient temperatures low, the Taycan charged at an impressive 103 kW—reaching 50% in just over 20 minutes, enough time for Robbie to grab a coffee.
Later in the day, an unplanned trip to the supermarket doubled as another charging opportunity. This time, the Taycan tapped into a 50 kW Instavolt charger—again using route planning to keep the battery warm for efficiency. Robbie noted the real-world variations in charging speed, with rates impacted by charger type, battery temperature, and other environmental factors.
Throughout the day, Robbie highlighted how seamless and intuitive electric driving can be with the right tools and a little planning. From app integration to tap-and-go charging cards, he showed how Porsche’s ecosystem is designed to support a stress-free transition from petrol to electric.
Wrapping up his day in sunny Kendal, Robbie returned the Taycan with a newfound appreciation for the practicality and performance of Porsche EVs. “Hopefully this gives you a good idea of what real-world ownership is like,” he said, signing off.
