The Solitude Revival is set to bring the legendary Solitudering racing track in the Glemstal valley back to life for one weekend, from 22 to 23 June 2024. Porsche Heritage and Museum will play a prominent role in this event, sending seven iconic sports cars on a thrilling journey through time, from the 1950s to the 1980s.
A Revival of Motorsport History
Nearly 60 years after the last race was held, the Solitude Revival will recreate the excitement of yesteryear, when formula cars, GT cars, sports cars, and prototypes sped through the scenic forests on the outskirts of Stuttgart. "We are delighted to bring legendary cars and drivers to this historic track, which will come alive again for two days," says Achim Stejskal, Head of Porsche Heritage and Museum. "Our 'Mission Future Heritage' aims to build a bridge to the future by engaging a younger generation with our driving culture."
Legendary Cars and Drivers
Porsche Heritage and Museum is showcasing seven historic racing and road vehicles that have left an indelible mark on the brand’s history. The event will feature renowned drivers like Marc Lieb, a Le Mans overall winner and endurance world champion, and Richard Lietz, a four-time GTE-Pro class winner at Le Mans. Joining them will be Ayhancan Güven, the winner of the Bathurst 24 Hour, representing the next generation of Porsche racers.
Visitors will also have the chance to see Tatort actor Richy Müller behind the wheel of a classic Porsche. Two-time World Rally Champion and Porsche brand ambassador Walter Röhrl will drive a sports car powered by eFuels, a synthetic fuel made from renewable hydrogen and biogenic carbon dioxide. Porsche is a pioneer in this area, viewing eFuels as a complement to electromobility.
Honouring Herbert Linge
The Solitude Revival will pay tribute to the late Herbert Linge, a key figure in Porsche's history. A special memorial race will honour his contributions, with a 1954 Porsche 550 Spyder taking part. Linge's legacy will also be celebrated by a range of Porsche sports cars from private collectors and institutions, retracing his remarkable motorsport career.
Celebrating 50 Years of Turbo
In line with this year’s theme, "Beyond Performance – 50 Years of Porsche Turbo," Porsche will display the iconic Porsche 934, a racing car introduced in 1976 based on the 911 Turbo. Also on display will be the 964-generation 911 Carrera 2 Cup, a 1993 racing car that competed in the Supercup, a championship organised by Porsche for production-based racing cars.
Racing and Rally Action
Walter Röhrl will take to the track in a 911 GT3 Rallye, a car developed 20 years ago by Porsche for the Belgian national rally championship. The 996-generation GT3 features a 280 kW (381 PS) engine, a reinforced body, and a rally-optimised gearbox. Joining the line-up will be the youngest racing car from Porsche’s collection, the 911 RSR from 2022, which won the GTE-Pro class at Le Mans.
Static Displays and Interactive Experiences
In addition to the dynamic displays, visitors can enjoy a special static exhibit featuring a 1976 911 Turbo 3.0 Coupé, once owned by Ferry Porsche. The Porsche stand will also offer an opportunity to explore the brand’s history through a range of products, literature, and a small exhibition celebrating 50 years of the Turbo. Young fans can engage with Porsche at the "Porsche 4Kids" station, and everyone can take home a photo with a classic Porsche 356 B 2000 Carrera GT or a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLS.
