It was a superb show during Rounds 3 and 4 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2025 season with tight battles in every class on its maiden visit to Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan.
Sime Motors Racing celebrated a strong race weekend, marking the first podium win of the season for the team. Hugo Ellis in #38 clinched second place for both Round 3 and 4. Let’s take a quick recap of what went down during the race weekend.
Dylan Yip took his maiden Porsche Carrera Cup Asia pole position for Race 1 with a fantastic lap for Phantom Global Racing, but it was Hugo Ellis who had the best getaway. The Sime Motors Racing driver, leapt from third to first on the run down to Turn 1 but was challenged by Team Shanghai Yonda BWT’s Dylan Pereira who then took lead for the remainder of the race with Ellis following suit in second place.
Sunday’s event saw more action, with Ellis again getting a good launch, this time from second on the grid. He challenged polesitter Pereira into the opening turns, but the 2022 Mobil 1 SuperCup champion held the lead and took first place with Ellis defending his second position.
In the Masters class, fellow Malaysian, Adrian D’Silva of EBM placed second for Round 3. He then took the top spot for Round 4, making it his third Masters win of the year, with Chia and Modena Motorsport’s John Shen coming in second and third respectively.
Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will head to Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia next for Rounds 5 to 7 from 6 to 8 June, which includes the return of the Endurance Cup for the first time in 2025.
