Last stop in China. Next stop: Japan.
Porsche Carrera Cup Asia put on a great show at Zhuhai International Circuit in Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2026 season – incredible battles, race-defining incidents and drama throughout the two races marking a memorable last stop in China for the series. Next stop: Japan’s famous Fuji Speedway on 8 to 10 May 2026.
Double pole position on grid for race Round 3 & 4
Following his double pole position in Shanghai last month, Team Porsche Malaysia’s Naquib Azlan repeated the trick to start first in both events on China’s south coast. However, it was Porsche Junior Amand in the #3 BWT Shanghai Yonda who got the better start from second on the grid, taking the lead into Turn 1. Marco Giltrap would follow the Finn past Azlan for Team Porsche New Zealand, although a multi-car incident in the pack would leave debris across the circuit, bringing out the red flag.

On the restart, Amand got a great jump to extend his lead as Azlan attacked Giltrap. The Malaysian driver managed to get through, but spun when completing the move, allowing Giltrap and Wetrade X Phantom Global’s Rodrigo Dias Almeida into the podium positions. The top three would remain in this order until the end of the race, as Amand claimed the championship lead with his first win of the year.

In the Pro-Am category, after Lu Wei’s Origine Motorsport car was involved in the opening lap incident, it became a two-horse race between Wang Zhongwei and Bao Jinlong, both also of Origine Motorsport. Bao had plenty of work to do after a difficult qualifying, but set about catching his rival, making several overtakes in the process. However, he would finish just five seconds behind Wang, who secured his second win of the season.

610 Racing duo Cao Qikuan and Roy Tang went head-to-head for the Am victory, with Cao crossing the line first, although a five-second penalty for forcing another driver off the track demoted him to second and Tang inherited the win. The duo was joined on the podium by Eric Kwong, as the Bergwerk man aims to reclaim the title he last won in 2024.

Following his excellent start to the season in Shanghai, Porsche Own Retail 69 Team’s Jacky Wu continued his good run of form with Masters victory, ahead of Modena Motorsports’ John Shen and the returning Adrian D’Silva for EBM.

Round 4 - same track, no less drama.
Sunday’s race was no less dramatic, as Amand once again got a good start from second on the grid to pass Azlan. However, Giltrap missed his braking point on the run into Turn 1, leading to a chain reaction of contact involving all three drivers, plus Origine Motorsport’s Ling Kang.

This allowed Absolute Racing’s Alexander Tauscher, filling in for the absent Marvin Klein, through into the lead, with Dias Almeida on his tail. Amand quickly began his recovery, making some impressive overtakes as he worked his way back up the field.

The race was twice interrupted by the Safety Car, but Tauscher would make the perfect restart each time, closely followed by Dias Almeida as the action unfolded behind them. Several cars were involved in the battle for third, but it was Amand who completed his recovery by claiming the final position on the podium.

Wei bounced back from his disappointing Saturday in the Pro-Am class to take a comfortable victory in Round 4, even battling with the Pro drivers in the latter stages of the race with an overall seventh-placed finish. Wang maintained his championship lead in second, while Bao took third.

Tang was again the class of the Am field, finishing an impressive seventh overall and first in his category. Eric Kwong was classified in second for Bergwerk, with Fire Monkey Motorsport’s Simon Chan in third.

Wu again showed great pace in the Masters class and looked set for another victory, but found the gravel and was forced to retire, allowing Shen to clinch a second win of the season. D’Silva was narrowly behind in second, while Viper Niza Racing’s Douglas Khoo returned to the podium in third.
