Meet Continental Cars Porsche customer, Megan Kenny, an incredible designer and inspiring businesswoman with an attitude tailor-made for success.
Megan has always had an intense drive to not just survive but thrive in business.
Over the years this determination has helped her establish not one but two hugely successful New Zealand brands. The first, Meg’s Tailoring, became a household name. And the second, Kenny and Harlow, has quickly become one of the leading bridal boutiques in Auckland.
But Meg’s entrepreneurial achievements were born out of early challenges. From a young age Megan knew she loved to sew and create, inspired by her mother who was a dressmaker. Tragically though, she lost both her parents by the time she was just 15, forcing her to enter the workforce and start forging her own path earlier than most.
It forced me to dig my heels in and look after myself,” she says. “And that attitude absolutely remains the same today - it still drives me to succeed and be the best I can be.”
“I think it took my whole life to realise that I was really good at what I do. When you’re moving forward all the time you don’t notice the skill you’ve developed that’s got you from the start to where you are now.”
Overcoming this significant early set back helped give Megan a relentless passion to make the most of her creative skills. And that’s now put her in the enviable position of doing what she’s always dreamed of – designing and creating beautiful dresses for one of the most important days of her client’s lives - and being hugely successful at it too. But for Megan, that’s not surprising, she’s always believed that doing well in life starts by doing what you love.
“The secret to being driven is being passionate about what you do,” she concludes. “If you’re passionate about what you do, that drives you forward.”
