The 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season got underway at the Shanghai International Circuit, where Team Porsche Malaysia and race driver Naquib Azlan made a strong impression. Azlan delivered an outstanding qualifying performance, with the best lap times of 2:01.694 and 2:01.769 to secure pole position, placing the Malaysian driver at the front of a highly competitive 30-car grid.
The opening race was ultimately not restarted following an early red flag, with half championship points awarded based on qualifying results, handing Azlan victory in Round 1.
Round 2 saw the grid return to the track for another closely contested race, with drivers battling for position across the field as the opening weekend of the championship concluded in Shanghai.
