When Porsche unveiled the Cayenne more than twenty years ago, the world discovered that an SUV could be both refined and incredibly powerful. A pioneer among luxury sport vehicles, it marked a decisive turning point in the brand’s history. Today, as part of the Porsche Classic Restoration Competition 2025, Porsche Centre Québec has chosen to pay tribute to this emblematic model by pushing the boundaries of imagination: restoring a 2004 first-generation Cayenne Turbo and reinventing it as a true expedition machine.
This project goes beyond mere restoration. Transformed, elevated, and put to the test in a cinematic short film, this Cayenne has become far more than a revisited classic. It embodies a complete adventure, where Porsche engineering meets the spirit of exploration and the unique lifestyle that define the brand. Far from being confined to asphalt, it dives into the wild, a reminder that the Cayenne has always been designed to go beyond the road.
The result is striking: an athletic, muscular silhouette resting on oversized tires, equipped with auxiliary rally lights, a functional roof rack, and distinctive graphics asserting its new purpose. This Cayenne does not merely recall its heritage, it embodies a new identity, ready to face the unknown and carve its own path far beyond the beaten track.
Filmed in iconic Québec outdoor locations, the Phoenix mtn cAbin and Montagne Berryman in Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, the setting itself became a character in the story. Both wild and majestic, these landscapes offered the perfect stage to illustrate Porsche’s relentless pursuit of challenge. The Cayenne’s ascent takes the shape of an epic journey, paced by intense action sequences, high-speed passages through dense forests, natural obstacle crossings, and contemplative pauses where nature asserts its dominance.
More than a film, Beyond the Roads is conceived as a sensory experience, dust, light, and the thunderous roar of the V8 merging with the wilderness to bring to life the unique story of a classic Cayenne reborn as an expedition companion.
In the film’s conclusion, the restored Cayenne is joined by a pre-owned 2025 Cayenne GTS, symbolizing continuity between heritage and modernity. The scene embodies a symbolic handover between two generations: one, the pioneer, reimagined for expedition; the other, contemporary, affirming the Cayenne’s enduring sophistication and strength.
Porsche e-bikes also come into action, underscoring that exploration does not stop when the road ends, it continues on the trails. Finally, a recent stock Cayenne Coupé served as the support vehicle and camera car, fearlessly handling rough terrain and further proving the versatility of the entire lineup.
Thus, this project is not limited to a restoration film, it embodies the Porsche experience as a whole: a balance of performance, style, and lifestyle.
Coordination between the driver, assistant director, and camera crew proved essential to transform what could have been a mere technical exercise into a full sensory experience. In this perfectly choreographed ballet, the dust kicked up by the wheels, beams of light piercing through trees, and the resonant growl of the V8 merged into a unique symphony of motion and sound.
This teamwork elevated the project beyond documenting a restoration, it became a living narrative, where the Cayenne takes its place as the hero of a story both human and mechanical, amplified by the art of cinema.
Beyond the Roads is not just a short film, it is a declaration. It is the story of a Cayenne proving that the road is never the final destination, but always the beginning. A film that embodies Porsche’s philosophy: exploration does not stop where asphalt ends, it carries further, toward new horizons.
Through this project, Porsche Centre Québec has reminded us that every Porsche is more than a vehicle: it is a promise of adventure, innovation, and excellence. And this restored Cayenne now stands as living proof.
