Exterior styling: an authentic “Turbo” available in Quebec City and its surroundings!
The Turbo look is above all very intimidating due to its prominent rear spoiler. The latter, even if it’s currently more understated than that of the 911 Turbo Type 930, remains THE signature of this dynasty. On the 2021 911 Turbo S, while elegantly integrated into the overall design, the spoiler remains clearly visible. And while impressive in pictures, it's even more so in real life, given our reaction when we saw our test car in the parking lot of the Porsche dealership in Quebec City.
We were as surprised as we were charmed by this stunning ultra-high performance Porsche coupe. We also realized that the spoiler was just one element among many that complete a rich but coherent design. Iconic oval headlights, very wide curved fenders, huge air scoops behind the doors, and a rear light strip reminiscent of the 911 Type 964: our Turbo S 992 Coupe is a real eye-catcher. Add to this its 911 Turbo S Exclusive Design glossy black wheels and its Guards Red exterior colour that reminded us of the 930, and you get a charismatic and timeless exterior styling. Hence, you must have guessed our opinion about the design of our 911 Turbo S: it’s sensational!
Theoretical capabilities from another world, that are still easy to use in any condition!
But a Porsche is above all judged on its athletic abilities. And this is even more true for the Turbo, which is supposed to represent the highest standard of performance for an everyday sports car from Zuffenhausen.
And on this point, the data given by Porsche Canada is staggering, even for a Porsche! Indeed, the 3.8-litre turbocharged flat-six engine produces 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Naturally, the performances are stratospheric, with a 0–100 km/h sprinted in just 2.7 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package. As for the top speed, it reaches 330 km/h!
With such numbers, you'd think the power would be untameable. But it seems to be the opposite! All of it is transmitted to the four-wheel drive system via an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Yes, you read that right! The Turbo S Type 992 has an all-wheel drive system fitted as standard!
Our 2021 911 Turbo S should therefore deliver all of its capabilities easily and in a safe way to us, even in the worst weather conditions. But don’t worry: we will verify this behind the steering wheel during our test-drive!
We now take place inside our magnificent 911 Turbo S Coupe Type 992. But we take a few minutes before starting the test drive to admire the cabin. Indeed, the interior of our 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S is a true work of art! We were spoiled with a magnificent Exclusive Manufaktur black and slate grey leather interior. This, together with the Guards Red as the exterior color, reminds us of the first 911 Turbo!
The lines of the dashboard are clean and traditional, with a perfectly integrated display in the center, as you could expect from Porsche. As for the controls, they are naturally within easy reach, with the ascending center console. Finally, the steering wheel offers optimal grip, with its bulges at the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions.
However, this race car-like cockpit puts the best premium limousines to shame. Indeed, in addition to leather, we had electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, an air ionizer, body-coloured interior trims, and a Burmester audio system. So we had all the comfort and luxury we wanted for our test drive around Ste-Foy and Quebec City!
On the road: exceptional but accessible performance for the ultimate driving experience!
Now it's time to start our "Porsche 911 Turbo S" test drive. We awaken the turbocharged heart of the beast, which comes alive in a typical cavernous growl. Once we've found our driving position by adjusting the seats, we exit the Porsche Québec dealership and start on Cyrille-Duquet Street. Our super sporty Porsche absorbs the roughness of the road with astonishing ease and without any body movement. Amazing! The comfort on board during those first few meters is firm, but never harsh.
We then head towards the 440. But before we insert ourselves on the highway, a large curve to the left allows us to test the agility of our Turbo S. The conclusion is clear: our ultra-high performance Porsche coupe goes precisely where the driver wants it to be, with no understeer and no body roll.
Next, we slip into traffic on the fast lane, which is perfect for testing accelerations! As soon as we touch the right pedal, our 911 Turbo S Type 992 propels us forward with an indescribable force. Never before have we been so glued to our seats! The manufacturer's 0-100 km/h figure is more than plausible; it even seems conservative to us! Once on the Charest highway, we confirm our impressions by overtaking two other vehicles around La Suette. Each time, our machine teleports us in just the blink of an eye in front of them.
We arrive in the Champigny area, which allows us to test the vehicle's behavior in fast corners. Once again, nothing to report: our 2021 911 Turbo S makes flat turns, places itself where we want to the millimeter and remains welded to the road. Amazing! Arriving near St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, we exit in the area of the Fossambault road to head back to the dealership. But surprise! Fresh and heavy snow begins to fall, covering the road very quickly. This unhoped-for opportunity allows us to put the all-wheel drive system of our car to the test. And As we expected, the system glued our German car to the road, regardless of the speed.
Hence, the 2021 911 Turbo S is THE sports car to consider if you want the best everyday performance vehicle!
